These circles are a safe and sacred space guided by group agreements that promote each participant’s ability to be witnessed and heard while speaking into their own truth and inner wisdom.
These circles are small (limited to 12 members), multi-week sessions that focus on a particular topic of exploration.
One of the greatest qualities we can develop to grow compassion and respect for others is withholding judgment. It is truly a gift to be received by others without judgment. It frees us to truly become ourselves.
From the time we are born, we are indoctrinated into systems of judgment. In academic settings we are measured and assessed, often leading to deep feelings of being judged and coming up short, or that our value lies in our performance. Socially, we can find ourselves in circles where judgment, gossip and comparison are the norm. Many of us feel wounded, and at times traumatized, by the depth of judgment we’ve experienced and carry both consciously and unconsciously as we try to make our ways confidently through life.
This 4-week group will support each participant as they begin an inventory of the way judgment has impacted her self-image and self-regard. We’ll explore healing from chronic judgment and self-judgment. In the safety of our group, we’ll begin the important journey back to the self-love we experienced when we first entered this world. With a combination of group sharing, journaling, and meditation, this gentle but powerful group will help each participant to realize the path to self-acceptance and a return to self-love.
Laurel trained in Peer Leadership in 1997 and has been leading groups based in this theory ever since. In 2017, she trained her first group of leaders in Empowered Leadership, her own version of Peer Leadership, incorporating some of her expertise from counseling and coaching over the last two decades. This model is based in a vulnerable-leader approach where equality is a keystone in creating a safe space for healing and inner exploration.
She brings this model into the mainstream by offering circles and training new leaders to facilitate this kind of rewarding group experience.
